Practical preparation for first aid emergencies
Heartsaver brings first aid, CPR, and AED learning together in one course. Hands-on practice helps you apply what you learn. Review your class instructions for the learning format and any online work required before attending.
Your Heartsaver course completion card
Participants who successfully complete all course requirements receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course Completion Card, valid for two years. Your card reflects the modules completed.

First aid and CPR for everyday responsibilities
Heartsaver is a practical choice for people preparing to respond to emergencies outside a clinical role. Workplace teams, coaches, caregivers, and community members can use the class to build familiarity with first aid, CPR, and AED skills. The right course depends on the responsibilities you have and the credential your organization requests.
For a workplace or childcare requirement, share the exact course name and pediatric training needs with us before booking. This helps you choose the appropriate modules rather than assuming every CPR card covers the same subjects.
What the training brings together
This course combines first aid topics with CPR and AED learning. You practice recognizing an emergency, getting help, and using the skills covered by your chosen course modules. Activities use training equipment and instructor guidance, giving you an opportunity to ask questions as you learn.
- Recognizing situations that call for first aid or emergency help.
- Practicing CPR and working with an AED trainer.
- Learning about choking and other common emergency situations.
- Reviewing adult and pediatric topics included in your class.
Adult and pediatric training needs
Caring for children can involve different training requirements from a general workplace role. Confirm whether your organization needs child and infant modules as well as adult skills. Review those details with Saving Hands before your class so the course you select matches the age groups relevant to you.
Completing Heartsaver does not replace a BLS Provider requirement. If a healthcare program requests BLS, use the separate AHA BLS certification page to review that course.

Before attending, review the address, start time, learning format, and any online preparation in your registration instructions. Use your completion card for the right requirement
Successful completion leads to the course completion card for the modules you completed. Keep your card details available for your employer and check the expiration date when planning future training. Saving Hands can help with class selection, while your workplace or school decides which credential it requires.
