BLS training for healthcare providers
This course focuses on recognizing a life-threatening emergency and responding with CPR, ventilation skills, and AED use. Practice and skills assessment are part of earning your course completion card.
Your AHA BLS Provider card
After successfully completing all course requirements, you receive an American Heart Association BLS Provider Course Completion Card, valid for two years. This is a BLS Provider course, rather than a general first aid class.
Book your Waltham BLS class
The registration form below starts with AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) selected. Choose a class date and an available time. Enter each participant’s details before continuing to payment. If your class includes an online component, complete the assigned learning before the hands-on session.
Choose BLS for your healthcare training requirement
Your course choice should start with the card requested by your workplace or school. Nursing students, dental staff, clinical professionals, and other healthcare personnel may be asked for BLS Provider certification. Bring the exact course name into your booking decision so you enroll in the right training before a placement, new role, or renewal deadline.
This page is specifically for American Heart Association BLS. If you are unsure which organization your employer accepts, ask before registering. Provider names are shown in our course listings to help you make that distinction.
Skills you will practice in BLS training
BLS training develops an organized response to cardiac and respiratory emergencies. Course activities include CPR, ventilation skills, AED use, and working with other responders. Your instructor guides practice and checks the skills required for successful course completion.
- Recognizing an emergency and beginning a coordinated response.
- Practicing resuscitation skills with training equipment.
- Using an AED trainer during a simulated emergency.
- Communicating clearly while responding as part of a team.
Make the most of your hands-on session
Use practice time to ask about skills that feel unfamiliar and to connect the course material with the scenarios you discuss. A small scheduled class, with a maximum of 10 participants, gives you a clear setting for focused learning. Your session’s remaining places are displayed in the calendar.
Learning and assessment are both part of the course. Attendance alone does not guarantee a completion card. Plan to take part in the required activities and follow your instructor’s guidance throughout the class.
Prepare for your BLS class in Waltham
Check the training address, date, start time, and learning format in your class instructions. If online learning is assigned, complete it before the practical session and keep any completion information requested. Ask us about course materials or preparation requirements before your scheduled day.
Wear clothing that lets you move comfortably during skills practice. If you need an accommodation or have concerns about participating, contact Saving Hands in advance so we can discuss your needs. For scheduling help, call (857) 332-1930.
